Broadcast & Storage Products – Year Review 2014

Here is our Review for the Year 2014 - Its Been a Busy One

Firstly, Thank you for your business and for working with us over the last year! It’s been a great year with lots of new products and developments to stay ahead of so, we thought we would summarize the highlights of our broadcast & storage products for 2014.

Bluefish444

Another manufacturer that continues to expand and develop, improving its range of 12bit video I/O cards. Some great new case studies and users such as Picture This. Curtis Pair, Founder said “Using Red footage, even ultimately in a 1080 environment, can be taxing on a computer system to say the least. I like the fact that the Create 3D Ultra allows me to playback 12 bit NATIVE R3D files in real time in both Premiere and After Effects.”

Bluefish444 introduced their new Fluid INGESTORE & DNxHD INGESTORE for multi-channel HD/SD SDI. Designed to be used with Epoch and Create video cards this allows users to fast ingest and store multiple simultaneous SDI streams, recording directly to uncompressed and/or AVID compatible DNxHD media files.

Reboot Entertainment made use of IngeSTore to go from video to mobile. With hours of archive material to ingest they needed an efficient high quality ingest path. Bluefish444’s Epoch Supernova and Fluid ingeSTore software enables Reboot’s staff to digitize up to four QuickTime uncompressed or DNXHD files simultaneously and allows for basic metadata input. Walter Procek, President of Reboot Entertainment, commented “We have multiplied our output by four and saved on storage operating 18 hours a day.”

Bluefish444 live in a world where its essential to be open and collaborative. They announced Magma chassis certification in June and then the following month support for Adobe Creative Cloud, Avid Media Composer V8 and 4k HFR SDI for Assimilate Scratch V8. In August real time graphics provider Vizrt supported Bluefish444 in their 3.7 release.

In September at IBC they launched their new low profile 12bit Epoch 4K Neutron and Epoch Nehttps://www.polar-graphics.com/bluefish444-12-bit-video-io-card/utron video cards. Each card comes with 3x industry standard BNC connectors enabling two simultaneous streams of 2K/HD/SD including video fill+key. Each SDI connector is programmable as input or output. The Epoch | Neutron supports 1.5G SDI I/O and the Epoch | 4K Neutron extends the support to 3G SDI I/O enabling 4K 60p I/O configurations.

Stardom Storage

Stardom offered the new low cost thunderbolt RAID chassis and updated their styling with a new option for black chassis. The new Shohtank 4- Bay supports 6TB drives with read speeds of up to 476 MB/s. Stardom makes sense because you have the option of just buying the chasis from us and installing your own drives.

Shed media invested in a number of the Sohoraid SR2;

“These are great little units; very reliable and easy to configure. It’s great that they have IEC’s directly on the units, as there’s no need for a separate power supply that might get lost in the field. We’ve even recommended them to our clients.”
Jamie Przygrodzki, Head of Post Production Technology, Shed Media Group

They exhibited at IBC 2014 and people were impressed with the green screen set up and lighting so Ultimatte published a best lighting guide for virtual sets.
